This page does not send generated passwords to our servers. Device and browser security still matter. Results are held in this page's memory; Clear removes the display but cannot promise memory erasure. Copying places results on your clipboard, which may be retained or synced by your device.

A FEW GOOD THINGS TO KNOW

Simple outside.
Thoughtful inside.

01

Pick your purpose.

Start with a password or an alphanumeric string. Choose a custom alphabet for formats like hexadecimal.

02

Set your own rules.

Adjust the length, leave out awkward characters, or generate a batch. Each change clears the previous result.

03

Keep it yours.

Use a different password for each account and store it in a password manager. This tool doesn't keep a history.

What makes the output random?

Characters are selected using your browser's cryptographic random generator. The selection avoids modulo bias. The simple group option rejects results that don't meet your rules; exact counts draw from each group and randomly shuffle the positions. Read about browser randomness ↗

Can I generate codes or reference IDs?

Yes. Try the alphanumeric preset or choose your own alphabet. Random values can repeat: this tool doesn't guarantee uniqueness or maintain a registry. Short codes should not be used as account passwords.

Is there a password strength score?

No. Length and available characters affect the number of possible combinations, but a score here would not account for how a service stores passwords, reuse, or phishing. Exact counts further restrict the possible combinations. Start with the 20-character password preset and follow the destination's requirements.

Security & privacy

Passwords are generated in your browser. No password can guarantee account security, and complete privacy cannot be guaranteed. Compromised devices, browser extensions, or clipboard history can expose passwords. Use a different password for each account.
